Meet the Team
At Open Range Ranch, our team shares one common passion: a deep respect for horses, the land, and the timeless values of the West. We're not just wranglers, trainers, and caretakers, we’re stewards of a way of life that honors the connection between people, animals, and nature.
Each member of our team brings unique skills, heartfelt dedication, and years of experience to the ranch. From guiding riders across the open plains, to caring for every horse with patience and purpose, we work as one herd, with the animals, and with each other.
Get to know the faces behind the ranch, the people who keep the spirit of Open Range alive, every single day.
David
Horses have been central to David Moutte's life for as long as he can remember. He is an experienced rider, but his true strength lies in the daily care and well-being of the animals. You can find David on the Open Range every weekday. He maintains the pastures, feeds the horses, and checks on them daily. He has a sharp eye for what each horse needs, which is especially valuable for the senior horses spending their retirement with us. For our Dutch clients who send their trusted companions here to enjoy their well-deserved retirement, David is a reliable and reassuring presence. In addition, David is exceptionally handy and a true hard worker. Together with Rick, he builds shelter barns and crafts many of the facilities on the grounds himself. Before you know it, he has already completed a massive amount of work. In short: a true golden asset. Thanks to his passion and craftsmanship, our horses are always in the best hands.
Rachelly
Has it always been in your blood? It certainly has in mine. My love for horses started when I was just six years old. I’ve spent my entire life in the saddle, but the true blueprint for my vision was formed during the three and a half years I lived in the United States. That’s where I fell in love with the endless open spaces, the quarter horses, and the authentic Western lifestyle. The dream of giving horses a place where they can simply be horses in complete freedom never left my mind. Together with my husband (the sweetest/ toughest man in the whole world!) and our two wonderful large dogs, we traded the Netherlands for the French countryside. Here, we found our own piece of paradise: The Open Range. A 200-hectare haven where we get to live out our passion every single day. Pure, Natural, and Unconditional My heart belongs to a natural approach to horse care: no unnecessary pressure, no horseshoes, no extra blankets and no fuss. Just horses, respected for who they are, living in an environment that honors their true nature.
Rick
After 25 years of building and managing a chain of 10 gyms, we traded the weights for the vast 200-hectare landscapes of France. In 2023, we sold our business to pursue a life where I could do what we love most: living outdoors with horses and for me especially: building with my hands. Rachelly always says about me: 'if I can imagine it, Rick can build it'.
On the ranch, I work with François ensuring every fence is sturdy, every shelter is rock-solid, and every piece of machinery—from our tractors to the UTVs—is in peak condition. My passion for craftsmanship doesn't stop at the stables; my current project is a labor of love, transforming an iconic American school bus into a custom Skoolie tiny house, so clients can enjoy a holiday with their retired horse, on the prairie where their horse is stationed.
Whether I’m repairing a trailer or engineering new facilities for the horses, I believe that a ranch is only as good as the care put into its foundation. I’m here to make sure that foundation is unbreakable, so our horses and guests can enjoy the ultimate Western experience.
Anna
Whether she’s operating the tractor to drag the indoor and outdoor arenas or carefully checking and feeding both our own horses and our clients' horses, Anna does it all with precision. She keeps the paddocks pristine and makes sure every animal under her care is happy and healthy.

Kate
From the USA to the Open Range: Meet Kate, Frank & Mabel! 🐴🇺🇸
Born and raised around horses in the US, Kate has spent a lifetime trail riding, showing horses, and running her own barn. She and her husband Kelly moved to France in 2025 with their dog Ghost and their two beloved horses, Frank & Mabel, who came right along for the adventure.
They were simply searching for a temporary home for their horses, but the moment they arrived at Ranch OpenRange, they were hooked. The authentic Western spirit and open spaces won them over—so much so that Frank & Mabel are now permanent residents, and Kate and her husband are settling down right nearby!
Since staying idle isn't in her nature, Kate joined the OpenRange team as an active Ranch Hand volunteer. With years of hands-on experience, she jumps in whenever the ranch gets busy to make sure every horse is well-fed, cared for, and loved.
Be sure to say hi to Kate, Frank, and Mabel next time you visit the Open Range!
